A foreign student who plans to come to the United States must have some definite goals in mind. For the student who wants to improve his English quickly and learn about American customs firsthand, there is often an opportunity to live with an American family. There may be one or two disadvantages to this living arrangement; however, I believe that there are far more advantages.First of all, some minor disadvantages to living with an American family include both a lack of privacy and little opportunity to have independence (be independent). For instance, the foreign student may find that the family expects him to join them in group activities such as watching television and going on picnics. At times, however, he might enjoy staying in his room to read or to write letters to his family and friends. Another drawback to living in an American home involves the possibility that the family may treat the student like a child. For example, the parents may want to decide who his friends will be and where he will go ring his leisure time away from home.Even though there may be one or two disadvantages to living with an American family, the advantages far outweigh them. By taking part in a home-stay program, the student has an excellent opportunity to learn about American customs. He will find out how to behave in different social situations such as parties and serimonies (ceremonies) and how to dress (dress on) these occasions. Also, he will learn about many other aspects of the American way of life, such as the way schools are run in the United States. With a family lose by, he can ask questions about attendance rules and school costs. The family will make certain that he becomes acquainted with this new way of life, and soon he will feel at home.Another advantage to lining with an American family is that the student is in an ideal environment to improve his English. For example, each time he has a conversation with someone in the family, this native speaker can help him with his pronounciation (pronunciation) and grammer (grammar). Maybe the younger children in the family can help the student with his homework, too. But the most important thing is that he will be surround (surrounded) by English most of the time ring his stay in the United States.Although I agree that there may be a couple of disadvantages to living with an American family, I feel that the advantages are more obvious. In a home-stay program, the student can learn about American customs in the most natural way possible. In addition, he will find himself in an atmosphere in which his English will certainly improve. In my opinion, these are the two most important goals for him to consider, and living with an American family is the best way to achieve them.

My opinion about this subject is that it depends in (on) your level of comprehension regard (regarding) conversational english (English). In other words; (words,) if you understand a considerable amount of english (English) language, your best bet would be to chose (choose) living with an American family. Science
push our life to make progress. Some people consider that government should not
support the research that has no practical use because of it will waste a lot
of money while the others show strong disapproval on this point. However, in my
stand point, it is necessary for government to support the scientific even it
has no practical because of the use in the future, the inspiration of science
for children.

First of all, the scientific research that has no
practical use in the current time does not stand for it would not have any use
in the future. If the scientific research may have some practical use in
the future, then it must requires a lot of basic research before. So it will be
necessary for us to do some research even it has no practical at the current
time，so today’s scientific reseasrch
that seems no practical use may be the foundation of another great contrituion
someday in the future. For example, Faraday, being a famous scientist in the
electricity area, did a large amount of research of how to make the magnetism
into electricity. It had no use at all at that time. But it lights our night today, which make our
working time much longer and there are a larger quantity of invent base on what
Faraday he did. So the government should support the scientific research that
has no practical use currently.


Secondly, the scientific research can inspire the
people to study the science and contribute to the science, especially some
young children. If the government support the scientific research that
is really interesting even it has no use, then it would attract the young
children to learn what it is. And it may lead the children to fall in love with
the science, which make then to start to learn the science, and they would be
the significant people in the future to do some hard scientific research, which
can make use of in or daily life. For example, my uncle, being a scientists in
a famous research center in China, has done a lot of research yet. And he told
me that he read an interesting research in the book, though the research has
not recognized yet, he fell in love with the science. And he study the science
very hard, as a result, he achieve his dream and he has done a lot of research
that has realistic use.

We
can easily draw the conclusion that government should support the scientific
research even it has no use because of the use of the research in the future
and the inspiration of science for young children.

楼主关于作文的写作，最好脱离模板的模式，因为阅卷的人也知道有模板这个东西，我建议你应该从思维上改变去写作文，就是用美式思维法写作文。
美国人的思维就是“线性思维”。即典型“总---分---总”的写作思维。这种思维源于美国的presentation。即美国学生在课堂上的演说。他们做这种演说所遵循的原则是“总---分---总”。在新托福写作中，用这种思维最容易获得高分。

按照这种思维模式，托福作文应该写成三个层次。也就是我们确立了中心思想后应该找到三条理由来支持。这种思想使托福作文很容易达到24分。想达到27分以上，就应该在这三条理由中再各找出两条理由来支持。托福作文要写五段：第一段为中心思想段；二、三、四段为支持段落；最后一段为总结段落。

如果说五段式是托福作文的结构模式，那么specific应该是美国人在行文中最重要的思维。什么是specific？即要求我们写的作文极其具体化。如这篇作文，“你认为在电影院里能很好地欣赏电影吗？”如果我们写出这样一个主题句：“电影院里人声嘈杂，我们无法集中精力欣赏电影。”下面是中国学生典型写法：很多人没社会公德，在公共场所里大声喧哗。影响别人看电影。白人根本读不懂。他们会刨根问底问：什么人在电影院里喧哗？做出了什么样噪声？他们会这样写：老年人常在电影院咳嗽，使别人无法集中注意看电影，小孩会在电影院疯跑，跌倒了会大哭，别人无法欣赏电影。我在托福教学中，体会到specific是学生一个最大阻力！也是学生无法得高分的最大障碍。很多学生句子和词都用得非常好，但是分数只有18分。根本原因就是写的不specific。很可惜，国内市面上的英语写作书籍中却鲜有人提到specific。我们必须知道：托福作文的宗旨在于communicaing information。也就是语言更应该是交流的工具！汉语经过几千年凝练，以“言简意赅”为最高境界。但美国人思维却是具体的。我们按照中国人思维写作，美国人根本看不懂，托福作文就是低分。

另外，建议楼主还是报个培训班吧，托福考试内有很多的技巧类的东西，上个培训班提高还是蛮大的。最好是小班，如果楼主有需要可以问我，北京的培训班我基本上都上过。
