矗立在金莲花广场中央、寓意澳门永远繁荣昌盛的大型莲花雕塑金光夺目。这份由中央政府于1999年澳门回归祖国之际赠送给澳门特区政府的礼物――“盛世莲花”，见证着澳门十年来的和谐昌盛。
7时58分，由治安警察队组成的护旗队员分别手捧国旗和特区区旗，健步走进广场，两支英姿飒爽的特警小队分列护卫在旗杆两侧。
8时整，鲜艳的五星红旗和翠绿的澳门特区区旗，在警察银乐队奏响的雄壮国歌声中冉冉升起。在冬日的晨光中，国旗和区旗迎风飘扬，与金灿灿的“盛世莲花”互相辉映，构成了一幅美丽动人的图画。
