Hence the name “the Garden of Quiet Meditation ”.
The garden covers an area of 10 mu. The western part is for dwelling, including 3 rows : sedan hall, tea hall and th main hall. There is also a spacious bedroom for the womenfolk. The eastern part is composed of the exterior and interior gardens. The whole construction shows no over-elaboration and reflects the peculiar architectural form of the late Qing dynasty. The 3 sides but the north of the exterior garden are halls for meeting or entertaining guests. Outside the exterior garden are pines, bamboos, wintersweet and artificial stalagmite. Inside in the courtyard is a eastward land boat, a rendezvous of the guests. The stern is combined with lattice windows and veranda. The northern side of the courtyard is the “ Viewing Moon Loft”, from where the host together with his guests hummed verses and responded each other with poems in the quiet moonlight. In the interior garden, the pavilions, terraces, boudoirs, the winding causeways and corridors and the rockeries all surround the pond or lie close to the water, giving an illusion of floating on the water.
Although small in size, the Garden of Quiet Meditation embraces all the rockeries, ponds, buildings, vines, trees, flowers and plants that exist in the classical gardens south of the Yantze River . Furthermore, one can enjoy the scenes of the four seasons and those of guqin, chess, calligraphy and drawing. The whole garden, with the moderate and exquisite layout, amiable scenery, exhibits rich artistic flavors.
Tongli (Chinese: 同里; Pinyin: Tónglǐ) is a town in Wujiang county, on the outskirts of Suzhou. It is known for a system of canals reminiscent of Venice, Italy.
Tongli is 40 minutes away from Suzhou city. The city retains many of the features of an ancient Chinese town.
Attractions
There are several museums in Tongli. This is more like a wax museum describing the culture of China in the olden days, about Marriage, the dynasties etc.
There is also a beautiful islet called "Luo Xing" islet to be traveled by ferry.
One can enjoy a lovely dinner sitting by the canal watching a boat pass by while the small restaurant cooks some nice Suzhou food. Tongli is peaceful, serene, calm and quiet.
In 2004, Tongli together with Lu and Zhouzhuang were listed in the tentative list for UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Jiayain Hall is also of note, and is the former home of Liu Yazi, an early 20th century actor known for his collection of gauze caps.
Tong Li is one of several towns on the outskirts of Suzhou known as Little Venice. There are roads, but the main arteries through the town are the canals. The pictures from this water city turned out much better than the town itself. I found it to be actually quite dingy, and would recommend that you try a different water city, Little Venice on your trip.

Now the 26th Centennial World Olympic Games are in full swing in Altanda. The Olympic flame is burning red and bright in the torch at the center of the Olympic square. Thousands of people lined the struts to watch the relay.
The relay of the Olympic Flame is the symbol of the continuity between the ancient and modern Games. During the ancient Olympics a sacred flame burned at the altar of Zeus. A modern version of the flame was adopted for the Berlin Games in 1936, and the tradition has been observed ever since. The torch used to kindle the flame is first lit by the sun's rays at Olympia in Greece, and then carried to the site of the Games by relays of runners. Ships and planes are used when necessary.
The runners are specially chosen, All of them are hard working and as a result become overacbievers. The flame kindles the fire in everyone's heart to encourage people to go on and on and bring the Olympic spirit into full play.

Not only at night does the nightingale sing. On almost every warm day in early June, the little brown bird sings away in the roads and woods, but, as all the other birds are also singing at the same time, we do not notice his voice so much. It is at night, when he has the field all to himself, that we hear the nightingale at his best.
