Many people say that nature's force is irresistible, but i think that man can conquer nature.
First, i want to explain the meaning of conquer. i don't mean to defeat and control nature, but tame it. Living harmoniously with nature is the goal and we can make it.
Man can imitate things in nature and make new things to help us improve our living conditions. Take radar and saw for instance, radar is made on the basis that bat can identify object by searching ultrasonic wave. radar is used widely in military affairs. It can ascertain object's shape, material and so on. On the basis of one kind of grass, Lu ban, the famous artisan of our contry, invent saw. With saw we can out off many hard things, make tools and so forth.

My dear brothers and sisters, I don’ know whether you have seen the news or information about the big earthquake, which has taken place in Wenchuan and its circumjacent of Sichuan province. You have heard Tangshan Earthquake, which took place in July,28th ,1976,with 7.6 magnitude and more than 270,000 people being killed.
This earthquake took place in southwestern of Sichuan with a magnitude of 7.8: at least 80% of buildings there have collapsed, and up to now , they–with more than 4000 aftershocks, have killed 22069 people, the figure is said to rise to about 50,000.
What a great disaster! If we had been warned by the related department, who has said that the foreseeing the earthquake was a tough problem all over the world, if we had paid attention to the forby act of the animals, the loss may be less. However, there is no “if”, and we must confront the fact: the ruins, the homeless people and the poor kids, who may be live without their parents…
Every time reading the news and seeing the pictures, tears run down my face. We should never feel scared or desperate, because we can see the hope from our government, from our people, from the firms especially these of our nation, such as Changhong, Haier, lenovo, etc, in contrast, some foreign corporations did very badly, which has hurt our nation’s feeling. I think they can’t develop any further, unless explanations will be made and accepted by us.
Our respectable Premier Wen Jiabao immediately flew to the affected areas, to oversee disaster relief efforts. He said government leaders will stand at the front lines of disaster relief work and unite with the people to overcome what we called a very large disaster. He says Chinese leaders are not afraid of sacrificing their lives or of making mistakes. Our troops have been dispatched to help with disaster relief work. We believe in our leaders, troops ,and our nation.

People often say that man can conquer the nature or human being is the king of the nature . According to the power of nature ,however , I deeply believe that nature takes over man.
Historically speaking, there is no doubt that man can reform the nature. As I see it, the history of man is absolutely the history of man’ exploring the nature . Long long ago , in order to survive ,our ancestors had to explore the nature ,know the nature ,and reform the nature. They climbed down the trees and started to live on the land. It was their first step to explore the nature. Since then man has known more about the nature and mastered some skills to protect himself and to survive .Graally, as man’s desire is expanding, what he wants is not only just surviving but also living better .
It seems that man is more powerful than nature for he can make up whatever he thinks up. He wanted more land ,then poldering came up .He wanted travelling faster ,then cars were invented. He wanted flying ,the planes appeared. What’s more ,Great Wall ,pyramids ,and other grand famous buildings are coming to our mind .To a miracle ,man even has the capacity to conquer Everest, which is the highest mountain in the world. Maybe the most amazing invention is the satellite marking the great achievements man has got in exploring and reforming the nature.
However, it doesn’t mean that man can conquer the nature. Nature is so mysterious and powerful that man just knows a little about it. Many secrets of the nature are still unknown.There are many rules in nature, and man will be pubished if he does something against the rules. Lots of facts have proved it .
As is known to all , man cannot live without the nature that is offering man with fresh air to breath , clean water to drink and various food to eat . Unfortunately, as man’s desire expands ,man asks for more and more from nature .As a result , the environment has been seriously polluted by chemical wastes from factories and sewage in cities .Farmland is also overwoked and has lost its fertility. Seriously, some has even become sandy .Woese still, trees are being cut down, thus a large scale of forests are being destoryed .And a variety of wild animals are being hunted and killed .Naturelly, the consequences are that many species of plants and animals are disappearing from the earth and the balance of the nature is being upset.
Now nature has taken revenge on man. Man has been sufferring from the greenhouse effects, acid rain, the graal depletion of the ozone layer in the atmosphere and disease hard to cure as cancer. In fact , nature takes action in two ways ,one is the slow way ,as mentioned above,the other is the fast way. Take tsunami for example, we still remember clearly the tsunami occurring in Indonesia in 2004.It was really a great disaster. More than 170,000 people died and even more were injured and homeless .When it happened people cannot do anything to stop it ! Even now ,it is hard to say how serious the damage was . As for the hurricane, it is absolutely a nightnare for many Americans. The hurricane taking place in New Orlean of America in 2005 led over 1036 people dead or injured. In economy, they both brought huge loss.
Now ,it is clear that nature is full of power and man has the ability to explore the nature ,to know the nature and to reform the nature but not the ability to conquer the nature.It is self-evident that man depends on nature for survival and development. Almost everything man possesses derives from nature. It is nature that has shaped man himself and his civilizations.
Since man cannot live without the nature .What is the relationship between them? How can man manage to survive in the nature?
Man is not the master of nature, he cannot control nature .Sstrictly speaking, man belongs to nature. If man wants to continue to live in this world ,he had better try the best he can do to respect nature,for the maintenance of a harmonious relationship with nature is a master of life and death to him.
In my opinion , man should pay attentions to the warnings given by nature and then consider seriously what should be done and what should not be done. Nature is full of power and rules .Though man cannot change its rules, he can make full use of them to reform the nature . Only in this way , can man manage to live in harmony with nature and live a better life.
