Girl planned a "chance-meeting" at the Broken Bridge and made boy fell in love with her. Girl married boy and opened a clinic to make money for boy's study. Girl became Lady White for her kind treatment to town people. And they should all happily live together, if not for the Mighty Monk Fa Hai.
Fa Hai is not a bad person. It's just when somebody saw a demon with a human, their first reaction tend to be "Demon! Die!" with lots of crosses and holy water. So, Fa Hai took Xu Xian away from his wife for his own safety. Of course Lady White wanted her husband back, she was pregnant! So Lady White went to battle Fa Hai. She nearly won, but her unborn child caused her defeat. After giving birth to her son, she was imprisoned, being held down by the Lei Feng Tower.
20 years later, her son Xu Shi Lin won the Number One Scholar in the royal examination. He went to Lei Feng Tower and prayed, and the tower collapsed. So, the White Snake was finally granted freedom, and reunited with her family.
