一、內容簡單化
內容簡單化是考生在構思專八作文時應遵循的原則。考生不論是在練習時還是在考場上都應當牢記這一點。許多考生在作文上敗下陣來就是因為花費了大量的時間和精力追求內容的新穎別致。國家考試中心在出專八作文試題時特別注意選擇一些彈性不是很大的題目，因為考試作為一種語言測試方式，其重點在於測試考生英語語言水平，它不像出國英語考試，譬如托福、GMAT和GRE這類智商型考試那樣測試考生邏輯思辯的能力；如果設置彈性較大的題目，評卷人在評分時就不容易把握。

專八高分作文的第二大策略是結構模式化，這也是最核心的一條策略。通覽以往的考試作文考題，細心的考生不難發現，專業英語作文考題不僅題目彈性很小，而且題型相結穩定，這就為考生在短期內提高作文分數創造了一個條件，使考生完全可以在考前針對考試中可能出現的題型按照固定的結構模式進行訓練。
三、語言要包裝
做到內容簡單化和結構模式化，考生就已經向專八高分作文的目標邁進了一大步，如果考生還能在語言的細節上下一些功夫，作文的分數就會更上一層樓，這也就是我們接下來要談的第三大策略：語言要包裝。前面我們已經說過，專業英語作文的測試重點是考生的語言能力，因而在語言細節上下一點功夫就可以讓考生展示自己的語言修養。
作文中語言的包裝主要應從以下六點入手。
首先是語法方面的包裝。考生要注意在作文中選取一個中心時態，通常選取一般現在時即可，但在陳述具體例證時要根據不同的情況變換時態。大綱明確要求高分作文的句子要做到多樣化，所以最好不要全盤使用簡單句，這樣會降低文章的層次、復雜句和簡單句應在文章中交叉出現，而對一些描述性的例證以及臨時想起的內容可以使用簡單句。
詞彙的包裝是個較為艱巨的過程，但單從應試的角度而言，考生可以精選一些高分作文學習，吸取其中的語言營養，對其中的用詞進行細致的研究和模仿，在練習時盡量使用範文中一些常用的優秀詞彙。
同樣在引用名人名言時考生也要特別注意：中國人習慣用別人說的話來證明自己的觀點，而西方人引用名人名言通常都是為了進行批判性分析，這也是東西方文化上的一大差異，建議考生心意一不要使用名人名言，而應當用自己的邏輯去說服對方。
