Transfer students often face unique challenges. New to a college but without freshman status, transfer students can feel like they inhabit some kind of strange middle ground on campus. Fortunately there are many ways transfer students can be proactive in making the adjustment to a new school. Here are ten suggestions.
1. Participate in programming for transfer students.
Many colleges schele special programs for transfer students. For example, some schools have kickoff events that coincide with freshman orientation. These beginning-of-term activities are great because they allow you to meet others who are in a situation similar to your own. It may be especially easy to bond with those who, like you, have moved on from another school.
2. Make the best of your housing situation.
One of the most daunting aspects of the transfer experience can be securing comfortable housing. If you want to live on campus, you may be disappointed when a college can't guarantee housing for transfer students. Or you may be placed in a residence hall, but one that is overcrowded with other transferees. Work with an institution to find solutions to housing inadequacies.
3. Develop a support system.
If you've transferred to a school where you know a lot of people, you may already have a network of friends you can rely on for advice and support. If, on the other hand, you're pretty much on your own on campus, it's important to begin building a support system. This may be hard: Non-transfer students in your class likely feel more settled on campus. You may need to be especially outgoing to break through. (See below.)
4. Participate in campus events.
What better way to feel at home at your new school than by participating in quintessential campus events? Join in any fun campus traditions, attend sporting events and go to other major happenings that bring students together. Not only will you have the opportunity to meet a lot of new friends, you may also begin to develop your own sense of school spirit.
5. Join at least one student club.
Huge events on campus are great, but it's often easier to make friends in smaller, more intimate settings. Student clubs provide the perfect opportunity for you to connect with others who share your hobbies or interests. Most colleges offer dozens of student organizations. Join at least one group, but consider multiple clubs if your schele allows.
6. See an academic adviser.
It's important to see an academic adviser upon arriving at your new campus. Being a transfer student means dealing with some unique academic circumstances. Perhaps you want to file a petition so that credits you've earned at another school can count at your new institution. Maybe you're not fully aware of general ed requirements. Whatever the situation, an adviser can help.
7. Connect early on with professors.
Peers who have been at a school from the onset of their college careers may have already established important bonds with professors and other university officials. Because you're new on campus, you'll want to be proactive in meeting and getting to know instructors and staff. Pay particular attention to faculty in your major by participating in class and utilizing office hours.
8. Stay on top of coursework.
This may seem a very obvious suggestion, but there's no faster way to begin feeling overwhelmed at a new institution than by falling behind in your classes. Given your recent change in environment, there are likely to be many new challenges. Excelling academically can give you confidence to meet and overcome any difficulties.
9. Remain close to people from your past.
While forging new relationships is important, continue to get support from family members and old friends. This group may include people you were close to at the last college you attended. Moving on to a new institution doesn't mean leaving friends behind. Social media make it easier than ever to connect with those who may be far away.
10. Give your school a chance.
Having a hard time at a new school? A rocky start doesn't mean that your new college isn't going to be right for you. Keep moving forward, using ideas from above. It's quite possible you'll soon find that campus feels more and more like home each day. That's just the kind of gratification that can make the long, arous process of transferring worth the effort.

Dietary Changes and Health Care
As is shown in the graph, China's food distribution has taken great changes from 1960's to 1990's According to this statistics of cereals, vegetable, meat, and fruits, the number of those who eat rice, flour or vegetable has greatly decreased in the past four decades. In contrast of this the number of those who eat oil or meat has sharply increased. From such dietary changes, we can perceive the rapid improvement of our people' s living standard.
Why does this improvement occur? The direct reason is the fact that the Chinese people have attached much importance to their health care. Nationally, China's economic growth is booming, and more people are getting richer. Indivially, everyone's consumption of food is increasingly varied. In particular, most of people are reluctant to eat much vegetable, but much meat and oil in their diets.
In my view, the changes of China's dietary distribution seem to be both positive and negative. The positive aspect is that China' s economical growth has given rise to the higher level of dietary standard, with most of people living rich and happy. But the negative aspect is that, I'm afraid, less eating vegetable will lead to poorer health, such as lacking vitamin nutrients in one's body. Therefore, we think it necessary for the Chinese to be aware of the balanced diets: Lots of vegetable and meat, which may gain us healthier bodies in the new century.
