一、first

1、含義：adj. 第一的；最初的；adv. 首先；第一；n. 最初；(序數詞)第一。

2、用法

first作為序數詞用時，意為「第一(個、批),頭一〔幾〕個」，常和定冠詞連用。

first用作形容詞一般修飾單數名詞，修飾有few或數詞修飾的復數名詞時是把復數名詞看作一個整體。first與基數詞連用時，一般置於基數詞前，但first引起的固定片語則應置於基數詞之後。

他是第一個到達那裡的。

二、second

1、含義：adj. 第二的；次等的；再一個的；num. 第二；n. 片刻；秒；adv. 第二；其次；v. 支持；贊成；附和；調派。

2、用法

1300年左右進入英語，直接源自古法語的second；最初源自古典拉丁語的secuns，意為緊接著，下一個。

second的基本意思是「支持」某人，也可表示「贊成」某議案或提案、「贊同」某人的觀點等。

三、then

1、含義：adv. 那麼；然後；當時；而且；adj. 當時的；n. 當時。

2、用法

then的意思是「當時，那時」「接著，於是，然後」「還有，而且」「那麼，因此」，作「那時」解時可指過去，也可指將來。

then作「那麼」解時常用於句首或句末,用來緩和語氣；作「然後」解時常位於and之後，所修飾的詞語之前,起連接作用。

then有時可用於對已經提到過或剛提到過的某物表示一般的看法,可譯作「則是，就是」。

那麼,他就要找個新秘書了？

四、finally

1、含義：adv. 最後；決定性地；最終。

2、用法

表示「最後」。finally在列舉事物時可以用來引出最後一項內容，或者是直接放在動詞之前，finally在主觀上有「等了好久才…」的含義。

含有「最後，終於」之意，finally不帶感情色彩，指一系列事情的最後結局。

Finally the team from Argentina won the championship.

最後，這支來自阿根廷的隊伍奪得了冠軍。

五、next

1、含義：adj. 下一個的；其次的；隔壁的；adv. 其次；下次；然後；n. 下一個；prep. 靠近。

2、用法

next用作形容詞可指位置、時間順序上緊挨著。用於時間時，表示的是以現在為標准，則其前不加the，意思是「下(年、月、日)等」; 如果與特定時間有聯系,其前要加the。表示順序時，意為「下一個，緊接著的」，其前一定要加the。

如果我錯過了這班火車，就趕乘下一班。

要背誦的話,就是具體到一天用on（具體到某一個早晨下午也用on,早上下午前面有天氣的形容詞也用on）
大地點用 in 小地點用 at 如： in China 在中國 at/in the school 在學校校園內（介詞是很靈活的,看你怎麼看地點這個范圍,多多體會,只要不是嚴重的錯誤在英語作文當中是不會扣分的）
需要注意的是：地點前面有無定冠詞 the 有時候的意思不一樣,如 in school 在上學 上學 in the school 在校園內
