古代名人讀書故事
1：匡衡，字稚圭，西漢東海（漢郡名，今江蘇省邳縣以東至海，連山東省滋陽縣以東至海地區）人。他出身農家，祖父、父親世代都是農民。傳到匡衡，卻喜歡讀書。他年輕時家裡貧窮，白天給人做僱工來維持生計，晚上才有時間讀書。可是家裡窮得連燈燭也點不起。鄰家燈燭明巒，卻又照不過來。匡衡就想出個法子，在貼著鄰家的牆上鑿穿一個孔洞，「偷」它一點光亮，讓鄰家的燈光照射過來。他就捧著書本，在洞前映著光來讀書。
2：漢朝有個叫孫敬的人，從小勤奮好學，他每天晚上學到深夜，為了避免發困，他用繩子的一頭拴柱頭發，一頭拴在房樑上。戰國時，有個名叫蘇秦的人，想干一番大事業，便刻苦讀書。每當深夜讀書時，他總愛打盹。於是，他就在自己打盹的時候，用錐子往大腿上刺一下，以提精神。孫敬和蘇秦的故事感動了後
人，人們用「懸梁刺股」來表示刻苦學習的精神。
3：東晉人車胤，年幼時好學不倦，勤奮刻苦。他白天幫大人幹活，夜晚便捧書苦讀。可是由於家境貧寒，常常沒錢買油燈，書也讀不成了。他為此十分苦惱。
一個夏夜的晚上，車胤坐在院子里默默回憶著讀過的書上的內容，忽然發現院子里有許多螢火蟲一閃一閃地在空中飛舞。他忽然心中一動，要是把這些螢火蟲聚集在一起，借它們的光不就可以讀書嗎？於是，他開始捉螢火蟲，捉了十幾只，把它們裝在白紗布縫制的口袋裡，掛在案頭。從此，他每天借著螢光苦苦地讀書。
4：歐陽修先生四歲時父親就去世了，家境貧寒，沒有錢供他讀書。太夫人用蘆葦稈在沙地上寫畫，教給他寫字。還教給他誦讀許多古人的篇章。到他年齡大些了，家裡沒有書可讀，便就近到讀書人家去借書來讀，有時接著進行抄寫。就這樣夜以繼日、廢寢忘食，只是致力讀書。從小寫的詩、賦文字，下筆就有成人的水平，那樣高了。
