玫瑰花， 一名赤薔薇，為薔薇科落葉灌木。莖多刺。花有紫、白兩種，形似薔被和月季。一般用作蜜餞、糕點等食品的配料。花瓣、根均作葯用，入葯多用紫玫瑰。
直立灌木。莖叢生，有莖刺。單數羽狀復葉互生，小葉5~9片，連葉柄5-13厘米，橢圓形或橢圓形狀倒卵形，長1.5-4.5厘米，寬1-2.5厘米，先端急尖或圓鈍。基部圓形或寬楔形。邊緣有尖銳鋸齒，上面無毛，深綠色，葉脈下陷，多皺，下面有柔毛和腺體，葉柄和葉軸有絨毛，疏生小莖刺和刺毛；托葉大部附著於葉柄，邊緣有有腺點；葉柄基部的刺常成對著生。花單生於葉腋或數朵聚生，苞片卵形，邊緣有腺毛，花梗長5-25毫米密被絨毛和腺毛，花直徑4-5.5厘米，上有稀疏柔毛，下密被腺毛和柔毛；花冠鮮艷，紫紅色，芳香；花梗有絨毛和腺體。薔薇果扁球形，熟時紅色，內有多數小瘦果，萼片宿存。
