I'm currently living abroad and the feeling of homesick always strikes me. This the first time that I am far away from my family. At this moment I am studying abroad for 6 months. The feeling of being out of place creeps up on me quite often. I miss my family and friends terribly. I miss my favorite homemade food. I miss my bed at home. Nonetheless, I always try to flip my feelings to the positive. I keep telling myself that the reason I have homesick is because I have parents that love me so much. I would then think about what my parents wished for me, and what should I do for my best. I'm sure this experience of independence is very beneficial for me, and I will deal with the homesickness and become a greater mature person soon.
