螞蟻的救助

一個下午,我給放在陽台上的幾盆花木澆水。在澆石榴時,看到有幾只黃螞蟻浮在水面上,掙扎著。我知道,螞蟻雖不會游泳,但它們是些生命力極強的小生靈。我沒有對它們實施救援,因為花盆中的水幾分鍾後就會洇下去,螞蟻們就可以自由著陸了,決無生命危險的。
不一會,水沒有了。幾只螞蟻在濕漉漉的泥土上又恢復了正常活動,但有兩只不幸的黃螞蟻被濕泥埋住了半個身子,在那裡努力掙扎著向外爬,可又爬不出來。我想,我應該救助一下這兩個遇難者了。我必須找一個細小的工具,不然,用手指或稍微粗大的棍棒,都可能將救助變成殺生。
但是,就在此時,一件意想不到的事情發生了:當我從室內取了一枚大頭針走出來時,發現兩只被埋的螞蟻同時被另兩只它們的同伴在救助著。那兩只來救助的黃螞蟻都在用力向外拉扯著它們的同類。我放棄了與兩只英勇救助同伴的黃螞蟻爭功的機會,靜靜觀察著這個夏天讓我的感動的一幕生命故事。
一隻螞蟻先被同伴救了出來。另一隻在救助者的努力拉扯下,也從泥土中掙出了身子。它們在小心翼翼向四周探試了一番後,便迅速地逃離了。奇怪的是有一隻救援的黃螞蟻,在救出同伴後並沒有一起離開,而是在救助現場的泥土上,繼續銜咬著泥土,似乎下面還有什麼東西被埋著。我想看個究竟,就沒有打擾它。不久,我看到有一對小小的觸角晃動著露了出來,不仔細看幾乎發現不了,原來下面還有一隻它遇難的夥伴。這次我必須幫助它們了,因為這場水災是我造成的,我在這些小小生靈面前是負有責任,甚至可以說是有罪過的。
極其小心地,我用針尖挑開泥土,果然有一隻小螞蟻露了出來。救助的黃螞蟻看到同伴後,立即上前去親吻觸撫,並試圖把它銜走。這時被救的螞蟻已恢復過來,與救助的螞蟻互相用觸角碰了一下,便一起爬開了。
我不是昆蟲行為學家,不知道螞蟻的救助行為是一種偶然還是自然的本能?但我覺得在這一點上,它們確實表現出了一種人類所想要達到的道德理想。當然,它們比人類做得更好更單純,因為它們沒有功利意識和附加條件。
